That isn't true. You get 1 year free (manufacturers warranty) and have to pay for the additional years.

I asked her about the warranty and she asked if i'm referring to the manufacture or Best buy. I said bb and she said i have 3 years. I'll go there and ask them when i buy my touch.

You do realize Apple doesn't care where you buy it, right? They still get their money.

You think BB will give Apple all the money i paid for the touch ?!

1. They will charge you for the additional warranty. Nothing in life is free especially extended warranties on electronics.

2. Apple already got their money from BB when BB made their order to sell them.

Just FYI, you should also be clever about how you buy it. I not only buy from Amazon, but I pay with my American Express, which gives me several things: price protection, dispute avenue and extended warranty. Basically, American Express will double the manufacturer's warranty. So, if f.ex. something comes with a 1-year warranty, I get a 2 year warranty just for buying with American Express. This is not the only card that has that feature, but it has worked really well for me, so... Anyhow, the result is that I almost never buy extended warranties at BB or places like that - American Express takes care of that for me.

You do realize there are a LOT of kids on this forum? Most likely they don't have or are not old enough to have an AMEX.

Uhm... I bet most here are 18 and up. Plus, AMEX is actually a more "responsible" card to own for a young person (18+) simply because you are forced to pay up at the end of the month, so it's harder to get into debt (sadly they've somewhat compromised this feature in that these days you can specify some purchases for extended payment option :().

Right, I don't know how old you are but how many 18+ year olds do you think would be responsible enough to pay off their credit card charges every month? You won't find many young people with an AMEX. Your idea of the Amex doubling the warranty is good but you have to understand the demographic on this forum. And I beg to differ the majority here is over 18.

I'm not 18. don't tell predatorz lolz. :rolleyes::p:p

Unfortunately, the problem is not you - it's the other customers that return two, three, four, or more iPods and iPhones for every tiny little scratch or whatever. That's the real problem, and why Apple is probably getting gunshy about accepting returns. It's a pity really, because now legitimate customers get the shaft.

I have to disagree with apple service. I used the "Genius bar" for the first time last week and I have to tell you that in all my years of IT, that was the first time I had great "tech support". My Touch 1G was having a random problem were the screen would flicker off, I mean the screen would black out as if someone was turning on and off a switch to it flickering it. It didn't do it all the time so I brought it in. The Apple genius took it, did a bunch of things to it to try and reproduce the problem and couldn't. Now mind you I bought this Touch from Newegg.com, not from the apple store. He told me how their policy was to replace units with a refurb one they had in stock but since I only had the touch for 2 weeks he was going to talk to his manager for an override and exchange it for a new one....with no restocking fee. I said "Great, thanks so much!" when he came back with the new replacement, I said "Wow, great service. I only wished I waited a few weeks to get the 2G version, oh well." The Genius guy then said that for an extra $20 he would be more then happy to "upgrade" it. I paid my $20 and got a brand new iPod Touch 2G. I didn't have to ask, beg or complain at all.

I guess as one poster stated, it all depends on the day and the person you get. That's how it is at every retail store. You have nice helpful people and then you have the douche ones.
