I created a macrumors account so I could post my curiosity on the matter as well.

It's not just about Gray Powell, we want to know how Apple handled the leak. If him being placed in the public eye had any effect on the outcome of his punishment. Apple is known (at least under Jobs) for it's authoritarian rule, so had his story not been made public one would assume he would have been quickly disposed of.

It does seem odd that the story was never followed up, even by Gizmodo.
