What ever happened to Quicktime 8 and 9?

i was on quick time X and it said quicktime 10.X in the about menu, lol what happened to 8 and 9

There were never QT 8 or QT 9 versions, they just got jumped over. It sometimes happens, since QT X is a complete rewrite, like FCP X is, and there was no FCP 8 or FCP 9 either.

Version numbering can be frustrating.
