Hey everyone,

I have the setting "Allow notifications when the display is sleeping" disabled. However, still, every time I receive an iMessage, the message briefly shows up at the top right corner while the display is sleeping and then goes away. It does NOT wake up the whole screen, instead, it's just the notification on the black screen. Is it supposed to be like this? If so, what's the difference between turning this on and off? Thanks!

Perhaps you have a specific Focus enabled. A Focus will allow message notifications from specific contacts to always appear, regardless of Notification settings.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, nope, this is not the case.

You have Show Notifications in Lock Screen disabled right?
Nope, I have:
  • Allow notifications when the display is sleeping --> Disabled
  • Allow notifications when the screen is locked --> Enabled
However, when I put my MBP to sleep via the Apple menu, I still get notifications at the top right. I mean, basically, it's sleeping AND locked at the same time then, so maybe that's why? I think that these settings are quite confusing but maybe it's also just me 😅

Yes that's why. Turn both off like I have and my iMac and wife MBA doesn't show those on the right. Turn off "Banner, Alerts" to none also.
