Hi,

from the Apple Dictionary:

An application program that comes with Mac OS X. The Automator program lets you create workflows for automating repetitive tasks. Automator works with many programs, including the Finder, Safari, iCal, Address Book, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Photoshop.

Hope this clears up things for you. Just come back if you want to know more. I personally like to use Automator to sort files in different directories.
