Does the other end absolutely have to be an Apple-certified charger or a Mac? I've tried plugging the case into a PC, a PS5, an Android phone, a Dell monitor, and a desk lamp with a USB-A port (via a USB A to C cable) - none have been able to charge it.

Most chargers should work with most of your Apple products, as they adhere to the USB standard.

If the cable works on other devices, then check for lint clogging the port on the case, especially if it spends time in a pocket or in a bag where it could collect debris.

I have found that a cheap wireless charger works great with my AirPods.
