For some odd reason I was really sad when "Weird Al" Yankovic's parents died.... which totally caught me off guard... still not sure why I was terribly sad about it.

The ones where I really thought 'Oh no... I really wanted to see what else they were going to do' were Douglas Adams and Dermot Morgan (Father Ted)

Musically, most of them have been mentioned aside from Elliot Smith and Kirsty McColl.

A question which came up recently at work while we were discussing something similar? Do it's more tragic for the person who died an untimely death through suicide/ODs or those who died in crashes/heart attacks/cancer? Or do you just regret the loss regardless?

...and Harry Chapin.

In regards to your question Applespider, suicides and ODs just make me angry. A shining star pissing away their future...

Personally, it's hard for me to see it as tragic when someone dies from an OD/suicide. When deaths like this occur, I tend to look more at the loss in whichever area they shared their talent, rather than their contributions as a human being.
