Just to repeat myself for the umpteenth time: autofill/downsampling for all iPods, not just the Shuffle.
While we're at it "keep iPod in source list" for all iPods.

A shame this was removed in 7 even for Shuffles.

The ability to import DVDs. I half expect Apple to release this feature with the release of iTV. Plus, Windows Vista has this feature, and I suspect iTV will be released about the same time as Vista.

But I half expect Apple to continue being naive, thinking we will buy all of our movies from iTunes (including movies we already have on DVD) so we can watch them through iTV.

I doubt Vista will rip encrypted (commercial DVDs) since that wouldn't be legal. It probably only does unencrypted DVDs.

Ever heard of mini player? (command+m or ctrl +m)

As far as I'm aware, command-m is minimize (the yellow button). Mini-player is cmd+ctrl+z (the green zoom button). ;)

I'd like to see a return to *Aqua* UI for the next iTunes. iTunes 7 has the most wretched UI.

-Journal mode, that tracks what you are listening to (like Last.FM). A complete, chronological picture of my activity in iTunes. This information would be used to build a profile of me.

-Integrate iChat buddy list into iTunes. I can see other peoples Journals and profiles. It would say something like "Project added XXXX album by XXXXX artist at XXXX time. I could then double click any of these to hear a preview. See what my friends are listening to, listen to those tracks marked as favourites by them, send recommendations allowing a whole listen of said track. Taking this a step further to implement a full, social networking structure in iTunes. Most likely via the Store, as thats essentially a browser. I want to be able to set up my own groups based on location or genre, or artist, just like Last.FM. I add my friends to the groups and it collates their listening data. We get weekly charts for my groups showing the most popular tracks played. This makes it easy for me to see what is hot according to my friends. Preview it there and then and if I like it, 1click purchase from the Store. My friend gets a credit or points of some sort for the referral. I envision a huge ecosystem based on this stuff. If Apple doesnt get there first, Microsoft will.

-Wireless sensing of iPods. When a (wireless) iPod comes into range, it shows itself up in my Source. As does any friends who comes within range. If im at work, I could have all these iPods in the source list, and much like the sharing music feature we have, listen to any of the songs on those iPods. All via wireless streaming.

Imagine... Lossless or 320kbps library, 128 or something else on the iPod. Automatically, with no messing around.

Surely such a simple thing to roll out to all iPods. Why not, Apple?

Probably because filling more than a gig when you're transcoding in real time will really suck. Nevertheless for those with appropriate horsepower (and presuming the transcoding sessions can be run simultaneously in a multi-threaded configuration) it would be handy.

What I'd like:
- Subscription service for music.
- Front Row for Windows.
- Coverflow view in Front Row.
- (more an OS thing) Not 'purist' but I'd like digital volume control.
- Manual EQ presets to migrate to iPod (and to be able to set them in iPod too).
- Auto-add unsecured tracks I've added onto the iPod elsewhere once I dock the iPod (wishful thinking)

I would like to see ability to use in iMovie. I tried to make a music video with scenes of SGA's Sateda mixed with the song "Savin' Me" by Nickelback. :(

No dice. Didn't work.

Now that iTunes 7 is out, there are probably some of us left wanting more. I for one have one really big feature that I whould like to see: the ability to search songs by lyrics.

Have you ever been looking for a song but you can't quite remember what it's called? Just type in the a few words from the song in the search field and, boom, you have a list of the songs with those words. I think this whould be extremly helpful in the iTunes store. Say if you hear a song on the radio, and your like "Hey, I really like that song", and you didn't happen to catch the song name and artist, just type in a few of the words and, boom, one click and 99¢ later, you have that song on your computer.

itunes an never find what im looking for i would like better search capabilities too.

I want this on the iPod...set up your nest 3 tracks and not worry about having a pre-made playlist.

Can already be done, well I can do it on my 3G. Highlight a track and press and hold select until it flashes. The song will then appear in a playlist called "on the go", can be done on as many songs as you wish. :)

Talking of iTunes 7, where is the button for the visualizer?

And where can you set multiple libraries? I heard that was a feature, but I couldn't find it

It's Apple-T, no more button. That's 'T' as in, um, "thingy", yeah, that's it!

You can hold down the option key while starting iTunes.

1. Multiple artist, composer and genre tag support so that a single song can be tagged with all the people or genres and have itunes treat them as multiple entities instead of one big combined entity in the browser.

2. flac support

3. autoconverting of flac or apple lossless to aac for ipod sync
