Yep, still a distraction, but far less opportunity for "doom scrolling", so it is an improvement.We have these, but they are only for infractions. I refer to mine as "phone jail".
smartwatches still offer a distraction, but it's not nearly as bad as a phone. namely, there's no tiktok on a watch.
As an aside, from my experience in education / training ( I've worth in both), adults are far more annoying about this than teens. Teens will give up their phones as "them's the rules" , adults often won't without a lot of drama.
