You know what doesn't frustrate me? OpenFirmware.

Dear God, I wish Intel Macs had the ability to boot into OpenFirmware or something just like it. There are several times that's been an enormous asset when troubleshooting.

efficiency

I only had to work very few time on PCs and I still don't get the difference between the mouse accelerations. Must be that I am just to used to it.

If you do a lot of what I'd call "precision mousing", you'll find there is a difference. It's kind of hard to put your finger on at first (I know I didn't quite understand why certain tasks couldn't be completed as efficiently at first), but once you experience it, you can understand.

An easy way to do this is to grab your favorite mouse and hook it up to a computer running OSX. Find a piece of software that has an identical or similar interface with its Windows counterpart and just time yourself clicking a few specific items close together as quickly as possible (make sure your "activity" gets your time up to at least 10 seconds or so). Now, hook that mouse up to a Windows (or linux) computer and perform the exact same task in the same program and compare your timings; the results might just surprise you. When I tried, OSX hindered my mouse performance by at least 30%, despite my best efforts (and I was giving it the benefit of the doubt by using a quality mouse on the G5 versus my laptop's trackpad in windows).

B* = Can be tough to find one for the G5, again the G4 is in a real good position, with cheap parts or an ATX-PSU mod

I think I once saw a guide somewhere to shoehorning a regular power supply into the G5's power supply shell and then splicing the wires to the G5's custom funky connectos, but that seems like a lot of time and effort for a machine that just isn't worth it. Certainly could be a useful learning experience and practice for computer mods down the road though.

For me, is figuring out how the components come out without an iFixit guide. That, and figuring out why the machine won't turn on. So many people have the error you describe, but their are different solutions.
