After finally removing World of Tanks from my PC, I recently started playing for the first time Fallout 4 (PC). I decided to stream it on Twitch because, why not.
I was not expecting to like it and while there are a couple of things I couldn't care less, settlements, overall I am enjoying it so far.
I avoid all missions that have to do with building settlements and base building. I do minimal crafting for my favorite weapons, and that's it. I never liked crafting in RPGs. EVER.
The game is fun, finally no more having to repair my weapons and not having to hoard up just to buy stuff is good.
I really really like this game.
And it was about time I played it as I have like 4 copies of it lol.

My list of games that I have played recently on both my PS4 Pro and Xbox-One X: (And my initial thoughts/recommendations)-

1.) [Metro Exodus]-

Graphically, it is improved much since the previous two games with the lighting/textures and character models are more detailed, however, after playing for approximately 2 to 3 hours, I couldn’t believe the amount of lag, glitches and some of the shotty sound affects. Ultimately, I thought maybe I was being too skeptical, then I started reading other user reviews, and they were mentioning the same type of issues that I did, and some are even saying that the game would freeze at certain points due to instability.

The Story did not even captivate me enough to want to continue to playing it, I traded it in within a day after even playing it, rather disappointed by this game, as I was watching this game since the E3 demo in 2017. Overall, huge disappointment. Wait for a price drop.

2.) [Spiderman]-

Great game, a lot of Hardwork obviously was put in by the developers. Graphically, this game was very strong, the storyline was well put together, lots of content to play through with this game, a little Arcadish for me, but overall I can see why this game achieved the high score that it did, and I credit ‘Insomniac’ for an incredible amount of detail with portraying New York, gameplay and even the music score was well executed.

3.) [Red Dead 2]-

Outstanding the whole way around. I have never played a game with the amount of detail that Rockstar put into this game, and I can see why seven years of developing this title clearly emphasizes why they are ‘king’ of the gaming world. The storyline, the characters, the environment, sound effects, lighting, camera angles are very well executed, there is so much content, there’s easily 200+ hours in this game for the campaign alone. To me, this is the expectation that I have moving forward with games in 2019 and so on, is that developers like a {Rockstar, Naughty dog and CD Project Red} have set the bar so high, they’re pushing other developers to be better and improve their standards.

4.) (Resident Evil 2)-

I really enjoyed this game. Basically, it’s like a giant maze that you really have to backtrack your steps to find all the necessary puzzle pieces and keys to move forward in the game, which I enjoyed the challenge. Some of the puzzles that are in the game or are slightly annoying and rather unintuitive, but overall, the storyline, gameplay mechanics, and the ‘Horror element’ was really well executed in this game. (It never gets old when shooting a zombie in the head with a gun and seeing the recoil when their head would snapback.:D) Konami did an excellent job remastering this game both with sound, graphics and revamping the character models to bring it back to life for 2019.

5.) [Far Cry 5]-

Ubisoft did a really good job with this game, the environment, storyline, fluid gameplay, the main antagonist in the game, ‘The father’, was excellent and I enjoyed the storyline behind him. Overall, you couldn’t ask for more with the amount of content that you Ubisoft put into this game with side missions, main storyline, the amount of vehicles/boats/airplanes you could use to traverse ‘Hope County’.

Next game to play/review:

1.) Shadow of the Tombraider.

Upcoming games I look forward to:

1.) Days Gone (April 26)

2.) Rage 2 (May 14)

Lot of fun. Sega clearly reused the Yakuza engine for it, so it's very familiar if you've played that series before.

Started Resident Evil 7 last night. This game looks pretty dark and gritty, should be fun. :)

I was also looking at the RE2 remake, but I'm going to wait for the price to drop some.

I´m playing New Dawn; I just got to a point where I need to fully upgrade my base to progress and I hate hunting for ethanol.

I´m getting into AC Origins and some smash bros here and there.

This is the easiest way to get ethanol - hit the outpost then scavenge it - I hit them and then scavenge twice (3 times total). A friend of mine hits them once at the normal gameplay and then drops down to the easiest gameplay when he hits them the two other times.

Put a few hours into RE7 last night. Not sure yet how I feel about unkillable enemies in this setting.

Enjoying the game though, and the little nods to RE1 make me laugh.

RD2. I can’t tell you how much time I have lost roaming around the vast country with different environments, simply just meandering until I encounter random events, characters and ‘mini missions’. Just incredible the amount of work that Rockstar implemented into this game and that doesn’t even include the main story/side missions to this ‘wide open world’. The amount of intricate detail in this game is just astonishing, and I’m not even trying to gush about this game because ‘I simply like it’, it’s just almost impossible to not acknowledge what Rockstar Executed. Seven years of development into this game clearly shows.

I deep into Far Cry 5, in the middle of the boss battle with Faith. This is a really engrossing game, and I've spent more time an energy on it than any other game outside Fallout 4. I love the versatility of the environment, the vehicles and the wise range of weapons. The ability to add a "gun for hire" has been a real life saver in some nasty outpost battles. I love stealing a "peggy" truck and careening down a highway looking for fights. Good times.

Far Cry 5 was really one of the better games for 2018. I think UBisoft has really improved the Far cry series greatly and this was by far the best one. The things I like the most, was the 3-D map was brilliant, The different environments were captured nicely, the wildlife was vast, the list goes on....

However aside from all the positives, which there are many, there are some things that easily could’ve been improved/need to be changed moving forward:

Like-

1.) Hardly any weather affects whatsoever. And the day/night cycles were oddly strange and not very well-balanced. I would like to see more of weather affects, especially for a ‘sandbox’ type game.

2.) When traversing in an airplane or vehicle, it would be nice to have a third-party view versus just a ‘first person view’, I think that changes the perspective for the player of the surrounding experience.

3.) It would be a much better/more in depth story for the gamer if the main protagonist actually had the ability to talk/have a voice in the game and not stay silent. It’s just plain odd and doesn’t make the storyline feel as immersive when the main character doesn’t have a voice.

My favorite thing it rolling down the road looking for trouble, and I get annoyed when I forced into the story, but those missions can also be fun. Liberating outposts is the best for me since I love sniping and sneaking around.

As for your 2), I hate the airplane/helicopter dynamics for the very reason you mention. It's so difficult to get a sense of everything going on around you because you're locked into that first person view. I usually avoid using aircraft because of it and stick to ground travel.

Anyone playing Sekiro?

I'm playing Sekiro. Only a couple hours in, initial impression is good so far, but jury is still out. Coming from Soulsborne, the new mechanisms take some getting used too. Parrying (something I was not good at in previous games), stealth (not generally a fan of stealth games), platforming elements (increased vertical with grapple hook), loss on death (half sen/XP), and skill trees will require some adjustments to how I approach this game.

My biggest concern apart from being able to adapt to the new game mechanics is my free time to play. I am so busy, I just don't have a lot of time available to game right now :-(

That said, I can't wait to get home from work to play this game some more, which is a good sign.

Which "game that will freak me out in the dark" should I play next? Alien Isolation or Resident Evil 7?
I player AI alone in the dark. Great experience, but SO frightening!!

Was so so tense every minute of the game because of the alien appearing at the minimal noise. The game is so beautifully designed that you get sucked into the world.

Highly recommend. Hope there's a sequel soon.
