Thanks, great advice.

Oh, and I did get kidnapped last night. Almost took down Mr. Kidnappy, he had but a shred of health left, but then the crows teamed up with him! :D Explored the prison. Took down the Mr. Kidnappies by luring them into places where they get stuck, then kirkhammering them into oblivion. Went outside one way and got destroyed by a giant pig. Went another way and met the Dark Beast Paarl. That thing killed me before I could even get a nibble in. I feel like I am not ready for this area.

Also ran up to the cathedral and took a left halfway up the stairs. Ended up in some sort of forest and got destroyed by an army of riflemen. :)
Welcome to pain 2 :)

I have to admit you're now at the spot I gave up and put the game in my backlog pile ....

Even if you go up the stairs where you wake initially and warp back - then head to - Cathedral ward, those feckers are now all over Cathedral ward too ....

For me it was brick wall too far

Hyogean Gaol is tough, I left if for later. You'll have a chance to access again later via other area or anytime via being kidnapped. Recommended level to take on optional boss Darkbeast Paarl is 25-35 w/+3 or +4 upgraded weapon. If you are brave, you can attempt a suicide run and try and grab Tonitrus, a pretty good weapon with built in lightning buff. It's to the left as you exit building far down to the end of the road past one of the piggies.

The forest area is called Hemwick Channel Lane. While optional, it's really sort of mandatory because beating the boss here gets you the Rune Workshop Tool, a must have item that allows you to add Rune upgrade buffs to your weapons. You should tackle this area next after beating Vicar Amelia.

Just tell me to shut up if I'm giving away too many spoilers :)

Have fun!

Am I the only one playing Bloodborne in Offline mode? The constant movement of other players' ghosts and countless blood puddles warning me to "beware of monster" were driving me up the wall. I'm enjoying it so much more on my own.

No I played offline too. I rarely play any game online tbh.

With the news of the Bloodborne expansion I decided to revisit it and start my NG+ playthrough. Just got the Blood-starved Beast on the first try, so I'm definitely doing better than last time! :D

Edit: And Amelia! :D

DLC Quest 2 was a fun, short parody game. Pretty much like the first one. Couple good laugh out loud moments.

Starting on Spec Ops The Line now!

Trying to decide if I should start playing Bloodborne. Got it from GameFly and wanted to see what all the hype was about but its not my genre.

Bloodborne Progress Blog:

I bought Ludwig's Holy Blade...and realized I don't have enough Skill points to use it! :D I've boosted Vitality, Strength and Endurance into the 20's, but skill is still 10. I guess I know where my next two level upgrades are going! My Kirkhammer is now +6 though, that thing really packs a punch!

Explored Channel Eastwick Lane last night. Managed to open the shortcut gate, that was good! Killed two of the Executioners roaming there, but the third one got me. Tough bastards! I'm probably close to meeting the Witches of Eastwick? ;)

Hooray! That fight frustrated me to no end.

That was a strange fight for sure. Took them down first try though.

Back in Cathedral Ward. Instead of going to fight Victor Amaretto, I ventured right from the stairs, opposite direction of Channel Eastwick Lane. Two hunters waiting there, the second one really kicked my ass. Fast little bugger! I killed him, but I was completely out of blood vials in the end. Then headed further downstairs, and the combination of two Executioners and a rifleman from above was too much. Will try again this weekend sometime. Thank goodness that hunters don't respawn!! :)

Are you playing a non-English version? It's interesting to see some of the character/place names changing (in English they're Vicar Amelia and Hemwick Charnel Lane). Just a random observation :)

As for the right-hand side, I certainly had trouble there too!

Nah, playing English version. I'm just horrible at remembering all those obscure names, so I make up my own! :p

Witches of Eastwick is an old movie reference. (80s? Early 90s?)

Good job beating the Witch of Hemwick. Remember this zone, I found it to be a pretty good place to farm souls off the executioners and dogs starting from the witch's lamp. The dogs drop twin-bloodstone shards at a pretty high rate (like 30%) too. It might be tough now, but later when you are leveled it's a pretty good spot.

Now that you have the Rune Workshop tool, you'll be able to buff your weapons and open up an extra can of whoop-ass! To bad about not having Skill leveled for the Ludwig's Blade, but a couple of levels and you'll have it. You might try equipping it and swinging it around a bit to make sure you like it just in case you don't want to invest points in Skill.

The way you went opposite Hemwick Lane goes to a zone (Yahar'Gul) that is not accessible at this point of the game and which requires crazy high level (~75 w/+8 weapon) to tackle. So you can return later, unless you are determined to take down that hunter. There's a few scurrying beast I think that drop some good blood stones as a reward if you want to take on this part now.

So time to take on Vicar Amelia! That's a fun fight for sure! After that, I recommend taking on Forbidden Woods next.

All this Bloodborne talk makes me want to play again! I'm going to have to if I want to take on the DLC. That's the only thing I hate about Souls game DLC - the extra stuff is usually made accessible mid game, so if you are someone like me that has beat the game already, you either have to tackle NG+ or start a new character.

Which is why I've done just that :)

I've cleared as far as Byrgenwerth, as I've heard a rumour that that's where the DLC will be accessible from. In all likelihood, I probably won't actually stop there :p

Awesome! You are you doing NG+ instead of starting a new character, right? Tough choice. Beating NG+ has bragging rights, but playing with a different build would be cool too. I think I will probably build a new guy based on whatever cool new weapons/spells are added in the DLC.

"Prey slaughtered!"

How I love those words! :D

Vicar was a tough one, took me about five tries to take that bitch down. Had to pull all sorts of extra tricks, too: fire paper, beast pellet, numbing mist... Now on to the Forbidden Forest! Just one question though...where the heck is it? Did I miss a gate somewhere?

I went back to the area opposite of Channel Hemwick. With the hunters dead, it was more manageable, though Mister Potato Sack is still a pain in the ass. Made my way into the big building at the end, where a giant hand came out of the ground and squeezed me to death. One hit kill, nothing I could do. Screw that, I'm not going back there! :p

I leveled up Skill and played around with Ludwig's Blade a little while. Fortified it to +3. Not gonna invest any twin blood shards, cause I'm not completely sold on the Blade yet. It's not as strong as the Kirkhammer and not as fast as the Saw Cleaver...it does have good range though. I'll play with it some more.

Really loving the Kirkhammer. Very good for bigger/slower enemies, after some upgrades it does CRAZY damage! Charged up stealth attack can take down an Executioner in one hit.

I'm really enjoying this game, glad I didn't give up on it. If I hadn't bought digitally, I probably would have sold it on Ebay early on. It's really intense though, I'm always really wound up after playing. Not sure I ever could have managed without help from you guys though. Tackling this game without any guidance at all seems impossible to me. :)

Cool beating Vicar! Forbidden Woods is accessible via the Cathedral Ward Main Central Courtyard, the area guarded by those giants.

Yep, NG+. I might end up doing some more this afternoon because I don't have much else to do :p
