I think that I was the Playstation generation. That's not on the graph though!

Are the dates on there based on when you were born? If so then I must be generation 'Y' although I've never heard of that. There is a big gap between that and the Dot.com etc because they weren't around until the early 90s.

Ditto.

I got original PSX way before it "hit" at all. Everyone saw my "Sony?!? WTF?" and say it was a Super Piece O' (#*$, so play Geneis or Snes instead...

Then I fired it up with Battle Arena Tonshinden.

1 Year later, EVERYONE had one. Super Piece O' (#*$, eh? ;)

Now the same thing is happening with Apples (since Intel came into the picture). You have an iMac? What a piece of.... #(*^!! It runs Windows?!?

History has a way of repeating itself...

Generation Y. I think I'd fit in better with Generation X or the "MTV Generation" though!;) EDIT: Is it based on date born? There are lots of choices under there, so I guess the net generation. Early 90's.

I'm generation X. Most charts I've seen show the baby boom going through 1964, though (that still puts me in Gen X). A lot of us aren't thirty-something anymore either...

Totally Gen X

I was at a conference where the keynote speaker was some sort of expert on the generations. Personally, I saw a lot of what he said as over simplifying and stereotyping large groups of people, but there were a few really good points. This guy spoke of motivations and defining events, which was interesting, but when he starting defining work habits and personalities by generation I felt he went a bit far.

He did make the comment that Gen X would not be represented by a US President. I wish I could remember the guy's name...

I was born in 1984, which puts me in Generation Y, but honestly I think I fit in a little more with Generation X. My taste in music does, anyway. That may not seem like a big deal, but it actually can be pretty distinctive; there is usually going to be a substantial attitude difference between those who grew up adoring Nirvana and those that grew up adoring Lil Kim.

Gen X of the non-spoiled variety. Grew up with computers, videogames, and MTV before most people knew what any of them were, or had them.

I say non-spoiled because while my parents worked in the tech industry, they were damn near bankrupt on multiple occasions and actually had to move back in with my grandparents at one point. All of my birthday and Christmas presents used to be purchased from garage sales for many years. I don't really identify well with other gen X'ers though. My brother is only 2 years older than me, but a completely different person. I hate labels though, it takes the focus away from the individual.

I remember I was 5 when my mom bought the original Sony PlayStation game console.

So much of my childhood was spent playing that gray magical box.

Not to mention a ton of money in games, memory cards, and replacement consoles.

Boy, where they fun, but craptastically built.

I suppose I'm a thirty-something.
