Okay, so today, I commissioned my dad's iMac to folding also. I just (don't laugh, i'm slow okay ) realized that he runs his iMac 24/7 for no apparent reason, just idling, so might as well use it for some good right.
His specs are:
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 Processor
6GB DDR2 Ram, 320GB Hard Drive
256MB ATi Radeon X2600XT Video Card
and his system, using SMP, got 1% every 15-20 minutes, even at 100% idle. I feel this is strange because on my Air, I'm getting 1% every 15 minutes overnight (when system's literally 100% idle) and 1% every 25 minutes when I'm using the system. Shouldn't my air, specs:
2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL9600 Processor
2GB DDR3 Ram, 128GB SSD
256MB nVidia 9400M Video Card
be A LOT slower because of the unclocking done by the firmware to prevent overheating? Technically, my air's running at 1.6GHz with some jumps to 1.86GHz and not truly 2.13GHz at 100% of the time. The iMac however, only hovers around 50-55 deg C for the CPU so its running at 100% 2.4GHz speed, yet its not that much faster than my air?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
