The app had a release date of fall of this year and there's been nothing. Not even any word or update. Anyone have any inside scoop?

What happened to Hitchhiker's Guide?

I think the iPad is "The Guide"
The game would be great, but I have been telling my wife that the iPad (& iPhone before that) IS The Guide ... it (the pad) just doesn't talk ... yet ... keep hoping, & don't panic !
I've been driving around with a towel in my trunk for 25 yrs now ... & now that we've got "The Guide", I'm set !

Have you checked with the developer of said app? Do they have a website and a Contact Us page?
The developer's site does not offer release date, available device, or any video demo. So, don't hold your breath.

I agree!!! I often tell people that Douglas Adams invented the iPad. If you put a Wikipedia app on there, you're all set! Wikipedia is just like the Hitchhiker's Guide--anyone can write anything they want, and it may be a long time before it gets "edited" to be correct.
I think an iPad with IMDB, GOOGLE and Wolfram Alpha apps pretty much IS the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Planet Earth.
Dead... The press release was apparently a BS promotional exercise..
I emailed the company about this.. This is what I got in response:

Nearly three years ago, your company put out a press release (http://io9.com/5831478/new-app-turns-your-ipad-into-the-hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy) stating you were releasing a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy app for iPad... It was scheduled for release Fall of 2011..

If you are not moving forward on this project, then might I suggest you at least do those of us who are quite fond of both Douglas Adams and his work a favor by taking down the website "http://www.thenewhitchhikersguide.com". At the very least update it to share the fact that your massive press release from 2011 was just a large steaming pile?
