What happened to MBP 2021 announcement?

I thought the MBP with M1 chip would be announced yesterday; was disappointed. I can't wait to get rid of my current MBP with the touch bar and get mag safe back [I have several mag safe power cords].

Do those that predict still think this might be coming this year?

The iPhone event usually just has iPhones and watches (so it was already a little unusual they added the iPads in). The Macs will be at their own dedicated event next month or maybe November. I'm not sure if the MagSafe in the new models will be MagSafe 2 (compatible with your existing cables) or MagSafe 3 (a new design that probably won't be backwards compatible).

Current reports are saying we will get an announcement in October with shipments coming in November. So we are almost there. Just a little longer.

Chip shortages and manufacturing issues with mini LED could mean these things will be harder to get at launch than usual so may the best man / woman win on preorder night 👍

Apple did not pre-announce an announcement! Pretty much everything announced was rumored in advance, but a lot that was rumored in advance was not announced.

The M1X MBPs will come later this fall.
