What happened to the 12.9 ipad pro case?? I tried to buy it from apple online and it's gone! But I can find them with bestbuy and other places? Is there something wrong with the design??

According to something I read on iMore today, the 12.9 silicon back cover is discontinued, the 10.5 version isn't happening, and I'm guessing the 9.7" won't be around much longer.

Make sure if you buy its for gen 1
Won't have back mic cut out or fit the new protruding 7 camera in gen2
I'd check eBay its where I got my 9.7 one for like 30 something and I love it

No the camera cut out is too small to accommodate gen 2 camera
And no cut out for mic on back

Yeah the gains from selling ac+ and replacement iPads outweighs the gains of charging people an insane amount of money for a silicone back
If I were crafty and handy I'd get one off eBay and try to mod it to fit gen2 12.9 but that's ambitious
It wouldn't be too tough to mod. I honestly don't care about camera and mic, but I'm probably in the minority.
I have the cover on my new 12.9 but it is tented up over the camera. I'll have a crappy one here Saturday that I won't like. Will use that till I mod it, or find something.
Despite the money I spent on this, I'm pretty dissatisfied with Apple due to the rear cover issue, and the short crappy lightning cable.

I'm using my 12.9 1st gen cover on the gen 2 and it works 99.9% perfectly. It doesn't work with the flash (don't care), it does cover the mics to SOME degree (don't care, as voice dictation still works great if you speak just a slight bit louder - easy to compare - it's very slight), and the camera cut out works just fine. No issues.
Also, nobody maybe has noticed, but there's only 8 speaker holes per speaker on the new iPad Pro 12.9 (so 4x8), whereas the old iPad Pro had 4x9 speaker holes. Thankfully, the 8 holes line up perfectly on the original back case with the 8 of 9 holes there. The 9th hole you just see the metal of the iPad through. Hah. 😀
So... yeah. Bummer there's not a dedicated second-gen back case, but I'll hold onto my original one as it's gold dust to me.
