What happened to the red/white audio outputs?

I had my old Apple TV hooked to my TV via HDMI but also had the red/white audio outputs going to my receiver so that I could listen to music and not have to have the TV on.

Are there converters out there? How are you guys running your audio to receivers?

Yea but that's optical out to optical in. My Onkyo receiver does not have optical in, just the red/white RCA input.
Its a Bose system with a Onkyo CD receiver, only a couple years old.

Then you will need a DAC (Digital-Analog Converter). No cable can do that I'm afraid.

No that only provides a way to send analog video and digital audio from source to TV--it doesn't convert the digital audio signal to an analog audio signal which he needs for his non-digital receiver.

The link I posted is basically the same as this one--but this one is cheaper (from newagemac). You don't need to spend $80. 🙂

Not really a different format. Most audio now is digital and the optical output on the ATV is digital--so it needs to stay digital--or be converted to analog. So if you have an older receiver that can't handle digital signals, the signal needs to be converted to analog).

Opps--sorry--yeah I left out the obvious--hdmi is the ultimate solution in that it sends both digital video and digital audio within the same cable.
