Why should they?
They've got to try and maintain their image of being against the establishment some how...

Does this mean we'll see a remake of Sid and Nancy. Who do you think will play the lead roles......Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan?:D

(wipes soda off of screen) OH - this made me laugh. Tom Hanks as Sid is a funny and disturbing thought... happiest we have ever seen Sid.
I think Billy Crystal played Harry in "When Harry Met Sally" - an equally disturbing Sid.

It was Billy Crystal in WHMS but a friend suggested Tom Hanks when we were talking about the Pistols thing. He said "Crystal doesn't do drama, Hanks is the one people consider to be an "actor." However a wisecracking Billy Crystal as Sid would be hilarious.

Without Punk we would have stayed in the stagnant disco era for many more years. Punk thrusted a whole new version of rock and roll into the world, and without it, techno, industrial, and heavy metal would have never been what thjey were and are.

I think you mean without disco (it was the anti-gay sentiment in the music industry that killed it off, not punk) there wouldn't be techno, industrial, hip-hop etc.

Rock (and by extension punk) was the stale music in the 70s not disco.

Nah - she would do it too much justice. Meg Ryan on the other hand would be a too-chipper delightful train wreck to watch.

Wasn't it Chloe Web who played Nancy in thjat movie. WTF ever happened to her? I mean, Gary Oldmen is one of the best actors EVER, but I don't remember Chloe from any other movies.

Sid and Nancy SUCKED. Sucked balls. Horrible movie, half-assed, but Gary did a great job as Sid.

I thought they sold out years ago!? ...saw them on the Roskilde festival in '96, iirc it was their first concert in "modern" times. They left the stage after 5 songs 'cause people kept throwing bottles at them. Johnny Rottens last words from the stage, and I quote (in most posh brit accent possible):" If you don't stop throwing bottles at us, we won't play anymore"... I assume that, after 25 years in the punk-business they'd developed allergy to broken glass

I guess this is what happened... apparently they've had stagefright ever since the Roskilde concert...

"We went on and there was one little mob that kept slinging these big cider bottles at us so we left after four songs. That was the worst gig ever."

I must admit I'm kinda proud to have been present at the concert that scared the Sex Pistols away, hehe... w*****s

Everything and everyone gets tired...

It doesn't matter who you are..eventually either the crowd wins or the individual collapses. Like Bukowski said; "Everything conspires and very little matters" Even Sitting Bull went on the Buffalo Bill Indian tour. It's obvious that the Pistols were not immaculate moralists and never were. The bloke working 20 hrs a day to keep your neighbourhood drop in centre open on pennies is more a real hero. Just be glad they did what they did which enabled bands like Joy Division & Magazine to be born. And as for joining the establishment by the time you are 30? Viva l'idiot! Only a vacuous hedonist would let capitalism fool them all their lives.

Sex Pistols from the start was pretty much about pissing off everyone including their own fans, so really it comes as no surprized and really if you've got a good sense of rock music history it wouldn't come as a surprize at all. I honestly wouldn't be surprized if John Lydon accepted a knighthood! :D

Ah well I've always loved the Sex Pistols for their music, personalities are just sideline stuff to read about. Punk was a fantastic phenomenon, I would argue without doing my research that Punk had a greater influence on Britain then on the US, music forever changed and there after you had the likes of The Jam, The Smiths, Manic Street Preachers, The Stone Roses, Oasis and so on.
