what happens after i deactivate

im pretty sure i am going to deactivate my account at the end of the cycle, but i want to know what happens after i deactivate my account. can i get the email i typically get there forwarded to a new address?

If you deactivate it, it'll stop being forwarded. It's best to make the transition to a new address before your subscription runs out.

How long after the account expires does Apple preserve everything? I'd like the option to re-join days/weeks after and pick up where I left off, but I haven't heard about whether or not Apple saves user data for some time.

All of your things should be kept by Apple, but just in a locked down state.
