You buy a 32GB iPhone and you use it for a few months, but you realize you really cannot afford it. What happens then? Does ATT cancel you... or do you basically just have a 32GB iPod Touch with a camera?

Well your credit rating goes in the crapper when they send a collections agency after you

They will suspend your service after a few weeks and then send you a bill and give you a chance to pay it. If you can then pay it, they will charge you a fee to turn the service back on.

Late payment fees are ridiculous. There's usually a reason people can't pay on time in the first place!

but you still keep the iphone right?

A better question is why someone would buy one of the most expensive consumer phones when they would not be in a position to afford it. Priorities.

I guess you're referring to your other thread here: https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=8083351

If you already know you can't afford it, don't buy it. It wil save you a lot of hassle and cash.
It also goes the same for the bigger MBP in your other thread. If you can't afford it, don't buy it.

Look at the thread in the link.

Still doesn't answer the question. If you are thinking of defaulting on your commitment/contract with ATT because you can't afford something - perhaps you shouldn't be looking to buy the most expensive phone on their plan.

It's not just the OPs problem - it's the USA in general. People like to live outside (sometimes WAY outside) their means. While the financial institutions are not blameless - PEOPLE, more than even, have a sense of entitlement and rush to get into something with the hopes they can weasel themselves out of trouble when the time comes....

I smell trouble. He doesn't want to know about not affording an iPhone contract, he wants to know how he can get a 32 gig iPhone and not pay for service.

Check his other posts. Today, he is asking about 13 or 15 MacBook, too.
