Assuming the leaked phone is basically what we'll see in a summer announcement, how will Apple handle the (non) unveiling? Will they bump up the announcement to sometime sooner to capitalize on the momentum and buzz? Will they put images of the phone on the Moscone banners and/or invites? Will they skip an unveiling event altogether? Or will they just pretend this whole thing never happened, and pretend the world never saw the leak? That would seem quite dumb to me and now how Apple generally plays their hand.

Or, is it possible that even though they were planning to release the phone as we've seen it, they'll scurry to retool the design and give us something completely different? (This will likely mean a delay, ie no new phone in June/July)

^^^This is how they've handled leaks in the past.

No, they won't change it just to surprise us. If it's different than the leaked phone, that will be because the leaked phone is a prototype/test unit, and is only one of many possible final products.

Steveo comes out showing a phone and people will cheer. It's the virtual BJ that Steveo commands at any product unveiling.

i imagine steve jobs will mention the leak in a humorous way, similar to when the power mac g5 was accidentally revealed a week before launch. i think the keynote will be what most everyone expects, complete with an ichat demo and possibly something else.

I think it would be great if they took this incident in stride and had some fun with it. They could badly green screen Steve into the bar where it was left behind and he could "find" the phone and unveil it.

Or he could even have Gray Powell(the guy who lost it) come on stage with Steve and help unveil it, assuming he gets to keep his job. I'm sure both of these would never happen. But it would be funny!

I think they should go all Canada on it, like the Olympics. :) Maybe have a bar scene with Steve walking in and finding the phone and presenting it to the crowd.

Powell should wear the "I went drinking blah blah blah" shirt on stage and announce it. That would be epic.

Seeing as 90% of what an iphone is happens on that screen that gizmodo only showed turned off, I imagine there's still lots to say about and show in the new iphone when it's officially revealed.

Steve could kill 2 birds with one stone and fire the guy who lost the phone in the bar over iChat while announcing it. Lol
