iPhone XR What has happened to camera roll?

I have a iphone XR. Camera roll has seemed to have disappeared. Did this happened during a recent update? I need to send some pics to an email address and the only way I know to accomplish this is through camera roll. Is there another way?

Camera roll is gone. To email a photo, select the share icon.

Basically, Photos -> Library -> All Photos. It works in a slightly different way to the old 'Camera Roll', but it's all there.

I should have said the pics are in a text message I was sent. Not in my photos.

You may have to save that photo locally first then share it.

This really annoyed me. I’ve returned to the iPhone after many years with Android. I’ve always had a camera roll album. This thing Apple has done is really messy, quite amateurish and illogical.

Library -> All Photos is literally your camera roll, as is Albums -> Recents

All photos is all photos. When I say camera roll, I mean an album that just has the photos taken with the camera.

The Camera Roll was better and simpler. Now the camera roll is basically divided into two sections that looks the same but works differently.

Was the camera roll ever only photos taken with the camera? I seemed to recall that saved photos from other sources went in there too but I might not be remembering correctly.
