It's very possible the iPhone 7 could be similar to the Samsung galaxy 7 edge. Many say it's the most advanced best phone on the market right now.

Don't get me wrong it's neat technology that screen on the edge, but I don't see a practical reason for it's existence other than make an additional galaxy S7 with extra screen technology.

Besides the screen on the edge being kind of cool what benefit is there to it?

1. Harder to find a case or screen protector...

2. Of course the phone cost more money than regular screened phone.

3. Kind of gimmicky although cool screen technology's

I will admit apple has copied the Samsung phones before in certain ways as Samsung has copied Apple as well.

It makes sense Apple wanting to copy the galaxy edge screen somewhat. People are sheep and go with what's cool even if not practical...

I'm not sure about now, but it seemed like in the past Apple really didn't care for 3rd party cases on its phones... They were all about the Apple's wimpy bumper case about it....

Remember the iPhone 3gs? The back of that phone is so slippery and curved almost like they wanted you to drop it...

I had a few overheating issues with the 3gs in the past so I called Apple, dude at Apple asked if I had a case on the phone I told him yes an otter box defender case and he went off on me lol... Said that's the problem the case rudely lol..

Some say a case takes away from the beauty and eligence of the iPhone...

The iPhone 7 will be more of an iPhone 6s than a galaxy s7 edge

Guess what, both are great phones and the iPhone 7 will be as well

There have been no rumours suggesting that the iPhone 7 will have a curved/edged display. In fact, all rumours and "leaks" suggest that it will be nearly the same as the 6/6s in form.

I think rumors and so called leaks are nothing more than theories...

Apple is to private for the leaks.

from the iPhone 7 I'm expecting:

- A new Space Black color to match the Apple watch
- 32GB entry level storage
- Removal of headphone jack
- Force touch Home button that provides tactic feedback but does not actually depress like a button.
- Slight tweak to design or major tweak to design. The leaks seem to be all over the place. It's possible Apple has gone through many prototypes.

Since when did Apple copy Samsungs hardware. You have the backwards.

I see that you're pretty new here. The designs for each year's iPhone are usually pretty well known by the summer before their release. While I'm the first to point out that nothing is confirmed until it comes directly from Apple, there's no denying that by this point rumours and "leaks" are seldom wrong. Apple has to start mass producing these things by the millions months before launch. That makes keeping the design a complete secret very difficult in this day and age.

It's kind of sad, actually. There are seldom any surprises when the phone debuts anymore.

iPhone 6 was a surprise, two flavors and much bigger

The entirety of the 6s was a bit of a surprise. The phone holds its own today against newer models. The same is going to be true for the iPhone 7; but we will see.

I'm talking about surprises in design and features.

Agreed. Like it or not everyone on this website has seen the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. The only thing we are waiting on are the complete specs.

This video was uploaded in June 2014, a full 3 months before the 6/6+ launched. Both sizes shown. The body is perfect. The only thing that was off is the colours.

Trust me, if the 7 was going to have a curved/edge screen, there's almost no chance it wouldn't have leaked by now.

No one is saying that about the 7. They are saying that about the phone Apple will release in 2017.
Bingo.

I hope iPhone for next year isn't like S7 edge but it might just be which makes me have to consider iPhone 7 as this could be the last design with a non-glass back until 2020 if the three-year design cycle starts next year. I would rather have a boring metal back over any great glass back.

And hopefully water proofing and the dual lends camera.

I keep hearing that Johnny Love Jazz 80's song anytime I read Jony Ive wants his all-glass/bezel-less iPhone dream design to become reality next year. I tried using the Sharp Aquos Crystal for two weeks last year, and trust me, bezel-less is terrible to hold. Too many accidental touches and opening apps that are closest to the sides. Why revisit the iPhone 4 design series again? One block of glass instead of two sheets? I hate glass phones. It is why I never wanted to get Nexus 4, Xperia Z3, Huawei P8, or the current S7 edge because of that stupid glass material on the back. I hate smudges and how slippery they are.

~Shattered dreams~ Jony Love Jazz

Keep dreaming, Jony. Too many shattered ones if your dreams come true. The iPhone 7 is the one to get. Don't wait until 2017 if you don't want an all-glass iPhone again and don't like to use a case to cover up the design.

I'm not getting a new iPhone this year. I've always been on the new cycle but no longer. I'll keep my 6 Plus until at least summer 2017. Then when the 2017 iPhone is available I will probably just get the 2016 iPhone at a reduced price.
