okay my macpro idea on a budget but still a killer.

buy the base 2.8 quad refurb price 2120
three of these hdds price 88 each. total for 3 = 264
usb2 card price is 60 bucks
seagate tb hdds 205 each total is 410 for 2.
3 sticks of 4gb ram 273
mac pro = 2120
hdds = 264
usb2 card = 60
seagate backups = 410
ram = 273
total = 3127

this will give you a working osx raid0 of 4tb good speeds 400 read /write. as long as you keep the raid0 around 2tb it will stay fast. two backups one bootable and an easy upgrade patha to a hex core 3.33ghz in a year or so. the trick is building the raid0 with the multiple backups it is better then any raid0 for many macpro users. This is not going to work for all users of mac pros this is much more in line for the user that wants a smaller mac pro and a better iMac / mac mini. yeah the upfront hurts but this will last a smaller user 5 years easy.
