What is a fleshlight? Have not heard of it.
I would like to see a lower end consumer Mac Pro introduced with a quad core processor and a 1gb video card baseline for around $2k.
The PC version of that configuration that you've been able to get for the last two years
is around $1K now, so that $2K sounds about right for the box
with the Apple sticker on it. But Apple won't build it because
computers are trucks and trucks aren't hip, thin and stylish.![]()
It seems hardly necessary with SSD on the rise though, doesnt it?I honestly hope to see a redesign of the drive bays. I love that Apple eliminated heat issues by running the drives horizontally, however the result has been magnetic issues, especially when running 10K drives along side 7.2k ones. Maybe even a slight spacing between them would do the trick.
Sadly this is the truth. Just let go of OS X then, give it to consumers to enjoy and allow us to put it on decently built computers. Sigh, its like apples holding the OS hostage.
MLC based SSD's (most common available), are NOT suited for high write environments. SLC is intended for such an environment, but is very expensive, and therefore untenable for most users ATM.It seems hardly necessary with SSD on the rise though, doesn't it?
Not going to happen this time around, as they can use the same boards for the Gulftown parts (just update the microcode in the firmware for the 2010 models).So... what are the thoughts on the low end Mac Pros having more than 4 RAM slots?
