Who are you to represent the majority of Mac consumer? I for one, play game on mac.

Even if apple does someday abandon the mouse entirely, i do believe the mouse will and still remain as an optional device.

So you are saying that because you game you represent the majority? The apple ads speak for themselves, they only mention surfing the web, word processing etc. Gaming simply isn't the reason people buy macs, even though they might play a game or two. The lack of customability is reason enough not to get a mac for gaming.

Stebus,

Based on your theory, lack of customability is the sole reason not to get a Mac for gaming, the Wii, 360, PS3 would not exist today.

The ONLY reason Mac's are not the "choice" for gamers would be that game developers choose to develop for the PC platform simply due to the larger audience base.

have you tried playing Call of Duty on a touchpad? dont be silly... they wont kill off the mouse, but i can see a mouse/touchpad hybrid

If you had read what I said then you would understand I didn't say it was the 'sole' reason, I said it was reason enough. You can't replace graphics cards on Macs, what happens when a game like Crysis comes out? You can't simply upgrade your hardware to be able to play it, if you still want a Mac you have to wait for Apple to upgrade their computers (or if you are lucky, run it on the lowest settings). Games are made for the Wii, 360 and PS3 because that is their market, those consoles are made to play games. It's almost ridiculous to compare them. If a company makes a game for a PS3 for example, they at least know that every PS3 owner bought that console for the intention on playing games, not that they'll use it for work or writing emails etc.

Based on your theory, no gamers use Macs because all developers are too busy making games for PC's which makes them so much money [sarcasm]. Say there are 100 million PC owners and there are 100 million PS3 owners and this company wants to sell a fighting game. Maybe only 50% of PC owners use them to play games whereas 100% of PS3 owners are using theirs to play games. Say only 80% of those markets play fighting games. That's significantly better odds if you make a fighting game for the PS3 rather than the PC. THAT is why games are made predominantly for consoles and not computers. Sure you'd make a game for PC rather than Mac but with Boot Camp and such that's no longer an issue.

I would love for a multitouch mouse/track pad that is like 8 x 8 and that also sticks to the laptop for portability.
