Hello, I am considering purchasing a new MacBook Pro. Per my understanding, the HD & memory are soldered in the motherboard. What happens if or when the HD or memory fail? Will Apple repair??

Simple answer...

If anything fails on the computer (soldered on or not) Apple will fix it for free if it is under a warranty of some kind. Otherwise, no you'll have to pay to fix it.

They will certainly repair. If it is still under warranty, they will repair it for free. If it is out of warranty, you will likely pay the cost of repair, unless it is some sort of recall. Since the SSD and RAM are both soldered, I think they will just replace the whole board if these break. It would be an expensive repair if you have to pay for it.

Like mentioned, memory and SSD failure will require a logic board replacement. Apple will cover it if its under warranty (standard or AppleCare+). Outside of warranty and it will cost a fortune, at least through Apple. Hopefully by then its old enough you can get the logic board off eBay for a reasonable price and due it yourself or be ready for a new laptop by then.

Typical memory failure is generally due to socket related issues. Although we don't have upgradability there is a small amount of reliability that comes with RAM being soldered to the logic board. SSD's are fairly reliable as well, being soldered just kills the upgradability.

Yep, under warranty it will get repaired, otherwise the consumer is going to be on the hook for an expensive repair bill.
