What if i bought .Mac now instead of MobileMe?

I noticed that .Mac was still for sale and was cheaper then MobileMe.
If i bought .Mac would that like be the same as MobileMe and would you still be able to connect to MobileMe?
Also if i bought .Mac would i get the '@mac.com' email?

What would i miss out on, spending £40 more on MobileMe?

If you purchased that ".Mac" it would be MobileMe. The only people with .Mac email accounts are mostly the original purchasers of .Mac.

For those of us with .mac addresses, it's a good incentive to keep on top of those MobileMe expiration dates! 😛
