So I have an iPhone Xs with Apple IUP and if I upgrade to iPhone 11 Pro thru Apple IUP again but if I ended up not liking iPhone 11 Pro and returned it and keep my iPhone Xs, what will happen to my IUP loan program on my iPhone Xs?

Well it looks exactly the same as your XS from the front, which is where you will (should) be looking 98% of the time so I guess I don't get the apprehension.

From Apple’s website:
  1. Return of New, Upgraded iPhone After Exercising Upgrade Option. Should you exercise the Upgrade Option and subsequently return your new, upgraded iPhone under the terms of Apple’s Returns and Refunds Policy, the Financed iPhone that you traded in will not be returned to you and the New Installment Loan associated with your new, upgraded iPhone will be terminated.
I would suggest that you feel comfortable you will keep the new phone before attempting to upgrade on IUP.

It's easy - Apple has a no-questions-asked return policy. Well, they will ask you why, but you don't have to answer and you don't even have to be honest. "I didn't like the color." "It was too big." "I found out that I couldn't afford it." Whatever - any reason, good or bad, or none at all. Just make sure you're within the return period (although I have had the store bend that period significantly for me a few times - but you can't depend on that).

*HOWEVER,* once you give them back the old phone on the IUP it's gone. If you walk halfway down the mall and turn around and ask to change your mind, I am pretty sure you're SOL. Once it's processed as a return, I don't think that can be unwound.

I've very rarely had an Apple employee ask me the reason for a return.

The iPhone pros are heavier than the XS models

That's why I'm bulking up lately. Gotta be ready for those extra grams!

When I've returned something and they have asked (usually don't) I just say I don't like it and they say ok haha, they really don't care.

That's been my experience. I think it's just sort of an informal customer satisfaction survey. They clearly don't care what you tell them, though.

Your XS will be long gone by then, you'd have to buy a new phone regardless.

This.

Like others mentioned, you probably will want to try out the 11 Pro at your local Apple Store before committing to the upgrade. Because if you upgrade to the 11 Pro and end up not liking it, you aren't getting your Xs back.

You can hang on to your old phone for several days during the 14 day return period (maybe for the full 14 days, but not sure), and if you don't like the new one, just return it and keep your old phone. I took a few days before I returned my X last year.

The OP is on the IUP program and would have to trade his/her current phone in to get the new one. So, can they simply take the phone back? Because that is not what the website indicates.

Or you could read a few post down and do as that person did. Hold on to the current phone for a few days before returning

Need to get mail delivery of new device.

Then Apple sends you a return box for the trade in which you have about 2 weeks drop off at shipper. This gives you time to decide.

If returning 11 Pro, then return within 14 days. You still have your existing device and IUP just continues.

If you purchase at the store they will want to take your XS right then.

If you like the XS why wouldn't you like the 11? Just because the back camera isn't the most aesthetically pleasing?

I am on the iUP too and I am holding off this year and just gonna buy out my current XS. Next year I can sell this one for probably about $400 and use that money towards an iPad or something and just start a new iUP plan at that time.

I preordered a 11 pro max with my iup upgrade but decided to get the 11 pro instead. I am returning my XS Max when I get the 11 pro max. Then I will return the 11 pro max. I will have to pay the 11 pro in full or start a new contract?

They usually ask "was something wrong with it?". If the answer is no, they mark the device as being returned due to "buyers remorse". There is no other option for them to check, e.g., I didn't like the screen or I wasn't happy with the weight, etc., not even any ability to add comments to explain the buyers remorse.
