So I want the 3G iPhone, but I already have a contract with ATT. Will i just be able to extend my contract or would i have to terminate my contract and pay the fine and sign up again?

The guy at my local store was leaning towards new customers only. Although he said he didn't hear anything concrete he was pretty sure they would only allow new contracts to get the iphone at first since they were not offer a non-subsidized iPhone up front.

Ugh I hope thats not true.
If it is I will have to go on eBay but they will be really expensive on ebay ://

At least my contract expires in October.

Bet that you'll be able to just sign up for a new 2yr contract with nothing really changing as long as you're good with the voice/data plan that is now changed.

Yea if i could just add onto my contract I would get that data plan but my mom will probably make me pay for it but it will be totally worth it.

From what I gather and this is pure speculation... the phone is not subsidized. The major reason why the phone was so expensive in the first place was because of the revenue sharing that AT&T and Apple took part in. I'm thinking that you be able to upgrade to the new iPhone no matter how much longer your contract is because on the old iPhone the iPhone was the only ANYTIME upgrade that AT&T offered. It signed you a new 2yr agreement and removed the old contract. I think that as we get closer to launch we will see more information on whether that is true or not.
