What if the G5's Thermal Paste is Applied Wrong too?

Anyone know if the iMac G5's thermal paste is applied correctly, or is applied like in the intels. Just thought it would be fun to know. 🙂

Well, there haven't been numerous reports of overheating on those, so I doubt it.

Don't forget Mac Minis! I tore mine apart to check... and it was fine.

I suspect the thermal paste is fine in all the iMac G5s. The G5 is just an incredibly hot chip.

I thought that is why there are those huge heatsinks. They can have heatsinks cause there is a lot more room in the enclosures. I've never heard anything about G5's overheating and thus think this claim is a bit of a naive one.

I opened up my Macintosh IIfx to check the thermal paste. I was so relieved to find it didn't even have a heatsink. 🙄

Most (modern) computers have thermal paste between the processor and the heat sink.

Perhaps you should read up on what thermal paste is and actually does:

I agree. Apple does seem to have screwed up somewhat on the MBP, but a lot of chips just run hot. In fact, all modern chips at decent clockspeeds are going to run fairly hot! Thermal paste is not why high end G5s need to be watercooled! 😱
