It could mirror the UI, this way you could easily navigate everything on your iPad or iPhone, make selections etc. I know they have the remote app, but it would actually be easier to navigate right on your iPad seeing all the channels and options right there in Front of you, and it could even have an option to watch directly on your iPad.

hat's a brillaint idea and it would be a lot nicer than the remote app. Then when you're searching for something the iPhone/iPad keyboard automatically comes up or you could use siri on your iPhone/iPad. Really like that idea betabeta.
That's what I've always wanted. Using a normal remote on a 10' interface to navigate through tons of media just sucks. It sucks on the Apple TV and it sucks on every HTPC UI ever made. A tablet is the way to go. I thought I remember people in the HTPC world doing this but I could be wrong.
