I have always preordered in the past, but I just realized my funds are low at the moment and can't preorder this time around.

But some of my buddies in years past had no issues with simply going in to AT&T/TMO the day it releases and getting it in person.

Any info on this?

The official Apple stores ALWAYS have a decent amount of stock on launch day completely independent of preorders. It's a huge marketing stunt with the lines and hype around the launch.

You generally need to line up very early to get what you want though.

Yeah they always keep a certain amount for launch day, or else launch day is an anti-climax.

Have no fear, there will be more than enough gold 7s laying around for you to get your hands on one.

Depends on the model and storage you seek. The iPhone 5.5 Jet Black is booked through November.

Really depends on what color and memory size you are looking for.

Last year 64gb white/silver was super easy. 16gb was gone in a heartbeat.

Rose gold was almost impossible to get.
