I'm currently with AT&T and they offer insurance not only for one smartphone, but also for your family. I'm debating between Applecare plus and At&t's. I like the fact that At&t covers lost and theft, but I also like that the deductible for cracked screens under Applecare Plus is only $29, I believe At&t's would be about $100. What kind of insurance do you recommend? have any of you had any experience with At&t insurance (submitting claims, receiving your replacement phone, etc)?

None. I don't break my phones. Never have. Perhaps i'm just lucky. But if I did it would be applecare.

I get insurance as part of being a Jump On Demand customer through T-Mobile so I'm good

If you grab insurance with your carrier, how quickly can you get a replacement? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't AppleCare+ give you a replacement same day?

I personally grab AppleCare+

Yes same day in store. If you have it mailed a replacement arrives next day. I had a warranty replacement called in after 7pm et and had my replacement at my door step the next day.
Needless to say I'm a big fan of AppleCare + didn't have to go through any hoops like most insurance carriers.

For those that aren't considering it keep in mind a cracked screen will pay for it and that coverage is for 2 years. No brainer to me.

I see no need to get insurance because if the iPhone 8 really comes out next year then I won't have this one for long anyway. I had every iPhone since the original and I manage to only crack a screen once.

Creditcard. American Express or Visa Signature Card gives +1 year additional extended warranty. Master Card also give the extended warranty but they might deduct wear and tear.

Cons: It only covers upto what you paid for with the credit card. lol...
Cons: Accidental damage is only covered for 120 days (or 90 days depending on the card).

Lost/stolen insurance is my hand and pocket. If it's not in my pocket, it's in my hand and if it's not in my hand, it's in my pocket. Pretty difficult to lose your iPhone or have it get stolen that way.

I'm 2 to 3 hours away from an apple store. Is it still viable for me to have apple care? Is apple care transferable??

I have T-Mobile's as it covers not only damage, but loss and theft. I used to always buy Squaretrade, but after a bad experience with them will never buy their services again.

I've used Squaretrade for all my devices (iPhone, iPad, PlayStation, TV). I'm considering Applecare this time around because Squaretrade is now more expensive. I may go ahead and do Squaretrade on my 7+ because when I sell it next year, they will refund he portion of the pan I did not use.

Decisions...decisions...

I don't use AppleCare, but I've heard that they refund the unused portion as well.
