This year, we're just 5 days away, and I just do not know what iPhone I will upgrade to. I currently own an iPhone Air Light Blue 512GB on Apple yearly upgrade program, which I have been doing for 4 years now. I have no issues with the upgrade program. I do not feel the same with the new Klarna leasing program. The increased pricing and new products are going to be much higher this year. I am leaning to the 2 year leasing option, but what happens next year for the anniversary iPhone. I will still have a year remaining. I am also hesitant that the iPhone Ultra Fold will have shortcomings. The main one is Face ID. I have used iPads with Touch ID, and that has not worked out for me.

It is 50/50 between iPhone Pro Max Black or Dark Blue 512GB or iPhone Ultra Black or Dark Blue 512GB. Finally, the price and fold's shortcomings may make that decision for me.

Also, after owning a new version of iPhone Air. There have been some shortcomings battery life is not lasting that long. I have the additional battery, but the battery maintains the charge, but does not increase your iPhone charge. Camera and Speaker are not great. Unable to connect my iPhone to the Studio Display was fustrating.

Is everyone out there decided on the Fold?

I’m taking the plunge on the fold. It’ll likely cost me about $150-250 out of pocket through T-Mobile (with trade in and likely promo, based on if I were to upgrade to the Z Fold 8 right now).

The only thing I’m worried about, and I’m very worried, is the lack of telephoto lens. I do a lot of photography and I know I’ll miss it, but I’m determined to give this form factor a try. If I can’t get over it there’s always the 14 day return period but I’d most likely just suck it up and deal with it and just switch back to the Pro Max next year. Otherwise I am VERY excited for the Ultra and I genuinely hope I love it as much as I think I will!

You should take a closer look at the Klarna lease (Apple Upgrade)
It's a much cheaper way to upgrade each year, assuming you sign up for the 12 month contract; instead of 24 months which means you HAVE to wait 24 months before upgrading.

Reason: buy out lease money is NOT included as part of the monthly !

Compare my 0% options for the new M5 Mac Studio:

  1. Apple Upgrade Lease - 36 months for Mac Studio = $50/month with $763 buyout at the end. If I don't want to buyout, I can return the device and start a new lease.
  2. Apple Card - 12 months for same Mac Studio = $208/month with $0 buyout = ownership in 12 months.
  3. Balance Transfer 0% credit card - 21 months = $119/month.
  4. Investment / 401k (retired) - full payment but tax liability increases.
  5. Cash but my CFA says why do that when you can use someone else's money and make money on the lump sum.

I just went to Best Buy and took a look at the Samsung Z Fold 8. That phone is small. If the iPhone Ultra Fold going to be similar or even better, it will be hard not to get it. After the announcement I have about 3 days to decide.

I just visited the Apple website and I noticed they added back an option to purchase via Apple Credit via 24 payments. There are now 3 options to buy iPhones with monthly plans. Apple Credit Card, Klarna Leasing Program, and Carrier Monthly Plans. I much prefer Apple Credit Card because you pay off your device in 24 months. 2 negative factors, you have to pay the tax and the payment is higher since you are paying off phone in 24 months.

iPad Touch ID is an abomination. I have one too. It’s lame.
But TouchID on all the older iPhones that had a home button was and still is excellent. Much nicer than Face ID (at least I think so).
So the new folding iPhone may have an excellent Touch ID actuation too. We will find out soon enough.
