False. Try Microsoft Security Essentials if you're looking for free. Several IT friends in large & mid-sized companies are in love with it. It's simple and unobtrusive. Surprising, since it comes from MS...

Great product, I have it used since it was released. Doesn't slow anything down and is very unobtrusive as the poster said.
