I know it dark blue dot means that the app has been updated... like on day one for example..

But what is the light blue dot like on Twitter?

I also know that a red dot means that it's a beta version.

Updated but not used since the update. That seems to be normal shade of blue for that in iOS 10

Basically it usually means that the app has been updated. Can't say I've seen color differences though on my device.

Then what is the dark blue dot? Because both colors go away once you use them.

Sorry, I just spotted the dark blue dot in your screenshot. I have no idea what is, I only see that light blue here.

Check the dot next to the Day One app in the op's screenshot though. Different colour to the Twitter one.

lol. C DM updated his post. C DM, ignore the above quote :)

Right, not sure what that's about as I haven't come across that.

I thought it was pale blue for updated app, if so the question is what is the dark blue dot

Is Day One or Twitter one of your beta apps?

I was about to say the same thing, Same color but the background is changing the color, but an all black background.. it should be the same.

Grab your screen and move it side to side, do either dot change?
I can make my dots change color from dark to pale with my background.

Guys....the dots are slightly translucent. Move the Twitter app next to the Day One app and it will be the same shade of blue.

My wall paper is pure black... it would look the same no matter where it is.

No.. the blue dots on other pages were all dark... twitter was the only pale one.

Beta dots are red not blue.

I wonder if it has somthing to do with manual updates vs auto... I noticed on my iPad that I'm not getting any blue dots at all for auto update... but the apps I update manually are getting a dark blue dot.... or else the light blue dot could just be a bug.

fwiw I manually updated the Twitter app and the blue dot is dark like all the others

Sounds like it might be a difference of that sort. Or something that was updated much earlier compared to something newer perhaps?

Looks pure to me. And here's my version of it with black wallpaper

And yours are both dark.

Edit. NM now I see I gues they're different now manual vs auto. I never manual so I guess that's why I've never seen the differences. However I guess it's nothing new been there since 9 according to Reddit.

A bizarre bit of visual noise for Apple to add imo. thanks for rooting it out though.
