I noticed that the iPhone5 voice quality is really shrill and offensive to the ear. iPhone4 was like that but it got worse. And the home button takes too much effort on the part of the thumb so that multitasking, which requires pressing the button two times, is impracticable.

I'm a part of the family 2 year contract from ATT; is there a way I can get out of it?
I think I'll either stick with the free Google Voice, or get a dumb phone that has a better voice quality and use Galaxy Player on the side.

Why not just get an android smartphone. The htc and motorola sets have great quality. I've heard great things about voice quality on the GS3 and the note II as well. The new motorolas have on screen buttons with a dedicated multitasking button which is great on my galaxy nexus. My galaxy nexus has great call quality as well.

That looks like a better choice than iPhone.

But I prefer no data plan slavery contract that gives $$ to ATT.
    But perhaps too late now.

Do they let me swap the contract to another Android phone?

If so I guess it would be worth buying an Android phone instead of Android player.

Could you recommend an Android player as well?

I would suggest going with with net10 and an unlocked android smartphone. $45 (with auto refill) for unlimited data/txt/calling which runs on ATT's network, prepaid so no contractual obligation. Check it out in my signature, and maybe a nexus 4 for a phone (good quality [I hear, haven't used one] and affordable).

What if u don't want a smartphone because they rip to u off by requiring data plan? Is there any dumb phone you could recommend?
