What is del.icio.us ?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, But i couldnt find anywhere else to put it. What is del.icio.us ? Is it some type of advanced bookmarking? When I installed firefox, I think it had an extention for it, but I couldnt seem to figure it out.

Basically, it is a place to store your favorite web "places" and share them with others, and browse theirs.

Also integrates with Safari through Safarilicious, or into the OS X menu bar with Delibar.
