those are links to digg.com where if you're a member you can 'digg it' and thus gain more attention for the site and article. etc.

digg is a link aggregator site that promotes stories/sites based on number of votes. It's basically a link to promote MacRumors stories more.

I've resisted linking to such services in the past because I've always thought it to be a bit corny...

but digg has a large readership and I've finally given in. I tried to make the link blend well, and not be too distracting. It should be easy to ignore if you don't use/like it. It will be automatically linked however from all future stories, however.

If you do use digg, voting our stories up will help increase exposure for MacRumors.

Feel free to ignore it otherwise.

thanks

What is your method for posting the links to digg?

When I click the MacRumors' digg links it sends me to a submit story page, which is usually already submitted.

If the macrumors story isn't already submitted, it will take you to the submit page. if it has already been submitted, it will take you to the corresponding digg page.

Digg is proof why there are no pure Democracies anywhere in the world. Digg is routinely abused by cabals of like-minded people to bury stories they don't intellectually accept and to promote only those stories that they do. So much for open-minded and über-tolerant lefties.

Example (not the only one, only the most current example I can find at this late hour):

Seems like there's been a change in plans...in addition to the small ignorable link now we have a huge graphic to ignore.

ARN, CAN YOU PLEASE SORT THIS OUT?

Re-defineing the word annoying digg is.

You can't even block the crap out like you can with adblock or flashblock.
