I ordered a Mac mini on December 10th, and a few hours later, I decided to cancel the order. Apple told me they couldn’t cancel it, as it was already preparing to ship. Fast forward to today, the 19th, and it is still just showing “preparing to ship,” although it was due to arrive between the 18th and 22nd (I realize it’s not the 22nd yet).

I’m just a little frustrated that it was so far gone after 2 or 3 hours they couldn’t cancel it, but it has not budged in 9 days.

Anyone experience anything like this?

Yes, once the order goes into preparing to ship, you can not cancel the order.
I had this happen on the much delayed iPhone 12 Pro that I placed on pre-launch start.

I ended up waiting for the phone I had ordered on pre-launch to be delivered and then return it on their dime because Apple made me mad that local Apple stores had them on launch day where I picked up mine.

Yeah I figured. I was just shocked that it went it to preparing within a couple of hours, and then just sat there. I finally did get notification that it shipped yesterday afternoon.

On new iPhone preorder night, I always do a test purchase a few hours before to make sure all my ordering information is correct, then I cancel it.

This year, I did the same thing, but the item went to Preparing to Ship almost immediately, so I couldn't cancel.

Oh well, my girlfriend is getting a 6' lightning cable as a bonus Christmas present. 😁
