    Hi-
I am using istat pro to view my computer settings and such. Coming from snow leopard to mountain lion.

In mountain lion I have two disks, one macintosh HD and the other a mobile backups with 0 free storage. When I click on it I get backups.backupdb with tons of folders.

What is mobile backups? Am losing harddrive memory? can I get rid of it?

    thanks.

    Alex

    Same exact thing happening here

Even if it is benign/nothing to worry about, how could I go about removing it from the list in iStat? It's just there hogging screen space.

Type this in a terminal window to disable local time machine backups:
This deletes the local time machine backups. Enter your admin password, if necessary.

You should use an external disk for Time Machine backups.

Using an external disk doesn't solve the local backups problem though, only the command you posted :)

I don't understand what you mean by posting that in the Terminal. Where do I find it? I'm not too tech savvy haha:D

I think I faced the same situation as you have to.
I simply turned off my back up. For me it was Time Machine.
    Hope that helped.
