iPhone 6s+ running 9.3.4

At night when I sleep I plug in my iPhone and run the "White Noise" app. Every night of the week the app runs all night with no problems except Wednesday nights. On Thursday mornings I wake up and the "White Noise" sound is not playing.

Is there a certain "restart" or "maintenance" restart that the iPhone does once a week in the middle of the night on Wednesdays? Or is it perhaps something with the app? I've checked all the settings on the app and I see no issues there. Perhaps there's another explanation.

Thanks.

I've heard of this happening before both on here and other support sites, with users' iPhones restarting overnight.

Your issue seems to be rather unique, as it seems to be doing it only one specific night out of the week.

In other users' cases, some have concluded that it's a memory leak in an app, and that removing a suspected app (or doing a factory reset if you're unsure of which app it may be) can help narrow the issue down to a software problem in an app.

I'm not tech savvy enough to confirm or deny this, but I suggest deleting the app next Wednesday and seeing if it helps.

Try setting phone manually to wrong day. See if it follows date set or actual Wednesday.

Wouldn't a memory leak followed by a general OS crash and reboot will leave the phone requiring password? This maybe the app doing something unexpected and iOS protection systems kicking in to kill the app and protect the OS session. That may explain why the phone is still ON in the morning, without the app running.

This is actually a good idea, and I think OP should try this to see if it's actually the specific day causing the issue,

You may be right, because again, I'm not really too sure what's going on- I was just parroting what little info I could find on this kind of issue. Still doesn't explain why *Wednesday* is specifically causing this.

OP: does the white noise app have some sort of calendar scheduling feature? Perhaps some wonky bad coding is causing the app to do something unexpected when the day transitions from Wednesday to Thursday, causing the app to crash.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I do not see a calendar function on the app. I like the idea of manually changing the day. I will give that a try and let you know what I learn.

I also reported the problem to the app designers. Unfortunately I have not heard anything back from them.

Thanks again!
