What is normal Blackbook temp?

After surfing internet for about 1 hour my c2duo macbook is at 60˚ or 140˚f, according to Fan Control in my syst prefs

Is that normal?
it feels really hot on my lap.

Also it says that the left fan is at 4271 rpm and the right fan at -1 rpm

Does that mean the 2nd fan is broken?

The temperature is not too extreme. Make sure you are giving it as much ventilation as possible. I usually get 50-57C depending upon conditions and sites visited. Youtube heats up the MB like nobody's business.

Your fan reading means your MB only has one fan. As all MBs have.

Hmmm...I think your lap is exacerbating the problem. Usually cloth (I'm assuming you're wearing pants) traps heat. I know, the great irony of not being able to use a laptop on your lap🙄 However, try using the macbook in another way, one that gives more air flow. The temps should drop by a few (5-ish) degrees with good air flow.

Well, the obvious question is, what was the temperature? If it was high, then I'd say the fans are perfectly normal, and seeing as how Photoshop is a pretty heavy program, I think that the fans were probably just doing what they were meant to do.

That is nothing, my white Macbook runs at about 170*F...and fans are on ALL THE TIME.

sorry for the lack of info... Temp is @ 162F 6200 rpms. do i need to be concerned?

No. That's 72° C, so the fans should be running. You can be worried about the fans if your temperature is 40° C or below (that's 104° F).

PS: I'm American too, but get into the habit of using C for science/technology. It's really easy if you're using iStat Pro🙂
