What is Snow Leopard?

Hey I've been wondering what Snow Leopard is and what it does. Is it a special kind of software or a whole new OS? Everybody's talking about it and I don't understand!😕😕😕😕🙁🙁🙁🙁😡😡😡😡

Whole new OS. Basically just rewrote Leopard but it has some great updates.
