They indicates that your apple watch is connected to mobile network

I have an active cellular connection on my watch and it’s connected but I don’t have the signal strength indicator below the date complication. Do I need to enable it.

If you're connected to wifi or your phone then the cellular won't be active. It will activate when you are away from your phone and wifi.

Ah okay. Thank you. That makes sense. I’m very rarely away from my phone and those rare occasions I probably haven’t noticed.
