What is the BEST analog to digital video capture?

So, I've been using Elgato video capture for a long time and results are ok but recently I've noticed a
big discrepancy in file size, pixelation between my output and another scenario for the same video.
I've read the other threads here on this subject but still haven't located the preferred video capture
that yields better quality than Elgato. Any suggestions are welcome!

Well, apart from the Elgato product, the only other one that used to be recommended was this:

yes on eBay but some reviews, which are favorable for the product, are off-putting because it is not supported by Mac 10.8 or later
