my 2016 MBA power adapter failed Saturday,

Curious about exactly what failed. My 2013 MBA will be 5 years old on July 1, it’s plugged in most of the time and never any problems with the power adapter. Power adaptor is still fine on my 2008 MBP also. Are the newer power adapters more failure-prone? Or has it been treated rough?

Speaking for myself, I always go with original Apple parts when it comes to power adapters. This way you know you won’t have any issues that could possibly lead to damaging or destroying your logic board from using aftermarket power adapters.

That’s my opinion.
i am having issues with apple products, especially these aded on ones like this adapter purchased just 2 years ago, 79$ plus Wisconsin tax! Since they don't make these adapters, but charge 3 times as much, i will buy a 3rd party one, just which one is my quest, let the gods be praised!

I have just picked up a refurb 11.6 2013 MacBook Air with 4GB/256GB from the recent EBay sale.

Quick update. I got the Mac last night, it was in an ok condition with some scratch and dings, but they are acceptable to me. To my surprise it actually has 8GB so it should be able to run Mojave well.
It also has a relatively new battery with 95% capacity, a new keyboard and a new screen.
I am actually pretty happy with it. It feels as fast as my 2015 13" maxed out MBP to me.

Enjoy.

The 11" MBA - especially the 2013 and later models - are terrific computers and can be taken anywhere and everywhere.

Jumping back in here as I am starting to consider an "upgrade" for my 2011 base 13" which is really starting to slow down. I just wiped it and put El Capitan back on (it was running Sierra) and that helped a lot, but I can't stop thinking about what 8GB would get me.

I've been perusing the local CL and have found a couple 2013 13" i5 8GB 256GB versions for anywhere from ~$375 - $450. $375 seems like a deal to me and I'm considering picking one up (then selling my 2011 for ~$250). I'm still thinking that 2013 is the way to go as it seems like the later ones didn't pick much up.
