That's a list of all features. Which one do Apple users pay for? If you're referring just to bookmarks syncing with .Mac (now MobileMe), the .Mac membership syncs a LOT more than just bookmarks, plus has email, your own website, etc. Syncing bookmarks is one small feature of .Mac, which can also be accomplished with dozens of free services out there, so in that regard, Firefox isn't offering something that can't be had free numerous other ways.

What happens if you do not want to have your own webpage, if you just want to sync bookmarks?

Or what about mouse gestures for fast browsing?

Firefox's abilities are limitless ( nearly ).

If you wish something that does not exist as a core capability you would find it as an extension most likely.

Only think I dont like is that it does not behave like safari when I maximize the firefox window. ( I acts like Windows programs and gets fullscreen )

Then I'll have to state the obvious - MobileMe isn't for you, since you won't take advantage of all the features that are worth paying for.

Mouse gestures?

You can have it so that holding down the right mouse button and dragging to the left opens a new tab. Equally dragging to the right closes the tab. You can tell Firefox (this extension) to do pretty much anything with whatever gesture you want. Made certain things incredibly quick.

I've only just realised I haven't used mouse gesture in a browser in about 2 years since getting a Mac

It's quicker to use keyboard shortcuts such as
CMD-T
CMD-W
CMD-{
CMD-}
and many more that Safari offers.

You can do the same thing with programmable mouse buttons, like on my VX Nano.

mmm. i like that mice too, very tiny usb handle, just way too expensive for me...:( so what gestures does it offer for OSX?

there are keyboard person, and there are mice person, its hard to say what is quick, what is slow..

I think firefox also offers most key combos as in safari, plus some unique ones.

I LOVE the Nano! I can leave the dongle plugged in all the time, even in a sleeve. The high-speed scroll wheel is great for quickly scrolling through threads, long web pages or through my 30,000+ song collection in iTunes! Here are a few of the things you can do with the VX Nano, including any keystrokes like Command-T, Command-W, etc.

You don't know what is quicker? Moving your cursor across the screen to click a button, or pressing a key combo?

well, I guess you didn't noticed a term we have been using in this thread, "mice gesture". you don't need to move cursor across the screen, just move it an inch or less, from exactly where it is within browser.

Plus. pressing a keycombo is misleading, its not always as easy as it sounds, "a" keycombo sometimes might be pressing 3 keys across keyboard altogether, thats nowhere near as easy as it sounds.

There is mice person for a reason. It is quicker in many cases.

Gesture or not, I find it a lot quicker to just move my hands onto the keyboard in their natural position and press the combination. What's with the making all the "a's" being bold?

want to emphasis that "a" keycombo != pressing "one" key.

"gesture or not" isn't really a way of judging this, I would encourage ppl who are mice person to try it out, great stuff.

Like I said, there are keyboard person, and there are mice person. For a person who uses mice alot to accurately locate and operate on screen. switching to keyboard itself (before pressing any key) is a slow down already.

Anyway, there is no absolutely better way, just different ways.

Firefox offers key shortcuts too. anyway.

That's Microsoft's fault, not Safari's.

it cant be microsoft's fault because it works again after i reset safari!!!

AT LEAST once a day, i have to reset safari so i can check my email!! When i try to load www.hotmail.com, it just simply doesnt load, i just get a white page and my load meter just keeps....loading?

its really annoying!!! I have no interest in switching email providers, i just wish i could check my email whenever i needed to without having to reset Safari!!

Thank you all!!!

Brad

Anybody try WebKit, What do you think. is it really faster than safari alone?

you can see the test result, in which webkit nightly is 2x than safari 3.1.x in JS.

But in reality.... it might be faster, but my internet connect is too fast to see significant difference.

Most of the time when i'm browsing the web i'm just using the mouse and my left arm is dangling over the side of the chair - therefore bringing my other arm to the keyboard takes more time than doing a very quick flick of my wrist.

But that's just me :p

How is it quicker? I pretty sure you never used gestures...

By the way I downloaded Flock today. It is pretty cool. I downloaded my gestures extension from firefox's website and it is running.

I advise everyone give it a try.

i keep flipping back and forth between safari and firefox. i like the features of firefox, but i find safari to be more solid.
